Damage reported from tornadoes in Plainfield, Speedway

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I viewed the incredible course Mother Nature took on ! When the sustained severe weather brought on these very rare tornadoes to this community.

PLAINFIELD (June 24, 2014) – A tornado was on the ground in both Plainfield and Speedway Tuesday afternoon, damaging several homes.

A tornado near Plainfield was sighted at Perry Road and U.S. 40. Hendricks County Emergency Management officials told FOX59 the tornado destroyed three homes. EMA coordinator Lise Crouch later clarified that the report was unconfirmed. She said some roads were flooded.

A number of homes sustained minor damage. Wayne Township Fire Department officials said three homes were significantly damaged.

Trees were down and a camper was lifted off the ground before dropping onto the roof of a house, a witness said.

Hendricks County EMA Director Dave Warren told FOX59 the tornado started in Plainfield before moving into western Marion County. It was spotted at Perry Road and U.S. 40 before making its way to Ridgeway Road. Warren said there were no injuries.
